DAY 1: 22 MAY 2024
Arrive Milan
Embrace the glamour of Milan, your introduction to the sights and sounds of Northern Italy. Spend the day exploring this stylish city and later you will join your fellow travellers and Travel Director for a welcome dinner and an evening orientation drive.
DAY 2: 23 MAY 2024
Milan – Bergamo – Lake Garda
In the morning you will explore Bergamo with a Local Specialist and wander past Renaissance façades and into the Piazza Vecchia. Board the Bergamo Funicular for views of the city before continuing to Lake Garda. This evening, connect with locals at a Be My Guest experience featuring local fare with the Serenelli family. On this MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience, you’ll hear all about the farm’s incredible role in Napoleon’s Battle of Solferino (Subject to availability).
DAY 3: 24 MAY 2024
Lake Garda: Marostica
Today we travel to Marostica. On arrival visit Piazza Castello the main Piazza
of Marostica. Visit the two beautiful castles Marostica has to offer, Castello Superiore (the road leading up to the castle is an uphill walk) and Castello Inferiore. Before returning to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure.
DAY 4: 25 MAY 2024
Lake Garda: Bassano del Grappa
Visit the riverfront town of Bassano del Grappa. See the most notable attraction the Ponte Vecchio, the covered wooden bridge. Explore the medieval castle and surround grounds of Castello degli Ezzelini. Make your way to the Piazza Garibaldi, where you’ll visit the Museo Civico. Indulge in a grappa tasting where you can try this unique brandy. Return to Lake Garda to spend the rest of the evening at leisure.
DAY 5: 26 MAY 2024
Lake Garda – Verona – Soave – Venice
Today we journey through Verona. Our walking tour with a Local Specialist will take us to Juliet’s Balcony, the incredible Roman arena and plenty of time to explore the city at leisure. On route to Venice, stop at the small city of Soave for a wine tasting. Dinner tonight will be at a local restaurant with the group. This evening enjoy a gondola ride through the canals of Venice.
DAY 6: 27 MAY 2024
Venice
Cruise your way through Venice by private launch. Your MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience with the master craftsmen of Venice follows. Watch as they share their centuries-old glassmaking traditions (Subject to Availability). From there, continue past the Bridge of Sighs and the Doge’s Palace to St. Mark’s Square where we will view the impressive square and Basilica.
DAY 7: 28 MAY 2024
Venice – Portojna – Opatija
Venture into Slovenia to visit the world- famous Postojna Caves. Marvel at the five-metre tall Brilliant, the cave’s most beautiful stalagmite. Continue to Opatija where you will stay for the next 2 nights.
DAY 8: 29 MAY 2024
Pula and Rovinj
Start your day in the coastal city of Pula on Croatia’s Istrian Peninsula where your visit to the 1st-century Pula Arena with a Local Specialist. Next, travel to the fishing port of Rovinj and wander through the Old Town where you will enjoy lunch. Later return to Opatija later where you’ll have time to wander along the town’s Lungomare.
DAY 9: 30 MAY 2024
Opatija – Plitvice Lakes – Zadar
Explore Plitvice with a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience, join a Local Expert to explore Plitvice National Park and meet the industrious women of the Tara Community Centre, who produce handicrafts, enabling employment and engagement in the community. Depart for Zadar.
DAY 10: 31 MAY 2024
Zadar – Split
Depart Zadar this morning and make your way to Split. Visit Diocletian’s Palace around which the city of Split was built and Dive into Culture hearing about the legacy of the Roman Empire. With your Local Specialist continue through the labyrinthine streets and arcaded squares to see St. Duje’s- originally Diocletian’s Mausoleum, and the Temple of Jupiter, as well as the Golden Gate.
DAY 11: 01 JUNE 2024
Split
Today explore Split at your leisure. People-watch in Pjaca Square, then ascend the bell tower for magnificent views of the sprawling terracotta roofs and white marble façades that seem to tumble into the Adriatic.
DAY 12: 02 JUNE 2024
Split – Hvar
Spend the day and night in Hvar, famed for being the sunniest island in the country. Enjoy a leisurely guided walking tour with a Local Specialist to Hvar’s Old Town. Connect with Locals over lunch cooked in a traditional style under an iron bell at our exclusive Be My Guest experience (Subject to Availability).
DAY 13: 03 JUNE 2024
Hvar – Dubrovnik
Depart Hvar and journey south to Dubrovnik. Lovers of history will delight in Dubrovnik’s rich history as the only city-state in the Adriatic to rival Venice. Remnants of its wealth and stature remain today, confined within its centuries-old walls.
DAY 14: 04 JUNE 2024
Dubrovnik
Embark on a Sightseeing tour of Dubrovnik this morning and join your Local Specialist who’ll share the stories behind the Rector’s Palace, Onofrio’s Fountain, and the Franciscan and Dominican monasteries. The afternoon will be at your leisure to get your final fix of Dubrovnik. On our last evening, we’ll come together for a memorable. Farewell Dinner toasting to the beauty of the Adriatic and new friendships forged.

Depart Dubrovnik
Our time together comes to an end this morning after breakfast.

Tour costs
The costs are based on twin share accommodation. There are a limited number of singles available at a supplement cost. Room Share is available on request (conditions apply).
Reservations and payment
On receipt of a $1000 non-refundable deposit per person, Trafalgar will confirm your land reservation. Final payment must be received 90 days prior to departure from New Zealand. If payment is not received by the due date, Trafalgar reserves the right to cancel the reservation and apply the appropriate cancellation charges.
Changes to tour costs
Tour costs are based on exchange rates as at October 2023 and are subject to change. Should these rates or costs change, it may be necessary to make a surcharge on the cost of the tour. No surcharge will be made in respect of currency fluctuation once full payment has been received. This guarantee does not apply to fuel surcharges or to any taxes, charges or levies imposed by any government or their agencies.
Before you join the tour
Travel e-documents and instructions for joining your tour will be sent to you approximately 2 weeks before your tour commences provided full payment has been received. Please read the edocuments and tour literature which are sent to you before departure—they contain a
wealth of advice and essential information to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible.
Changes to tour itineraries
Trafalgar constantly tries to improve tour itineraries and tour features. If improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary, we reserve the right to vary itineraries and substitute hotels. This special departure is based on a minimum of
30 passengers and in the unlikely event that we have to cancel your reservation because of insufficient numbers booked we will use our best endeavors to offer an alternative holiday of similar standard. If youdo not accept the alternative a full refund of all monies paid to Trafalgar will be made.
Cancellations, refunds & booking changes
Notice of cancellation must be in writing either directly to Trafalgar or through your travel agent. A $1000 fee per person will be charged for all cancellations. Additionally, the following scale of charges will apply when cancellation is notified within 90 days of tour departure from NZ. The charges apply to the land content only. If flights are booked airfare and stopover cancellation and amendment fees are as levied by suppliers. Cancellation fees shown above are additional to any fees levied by your Travel Agent. In the event you have to withdraw from a tour after it has begun for reasons such as illness, be sure to obtain a medical certificate in support of any insurance claim. We regret that we are not able to make any refunds for absences from the tour, including but not limited to unused hotel accommodation, meals or sightseeing.
Insurance
We recommend that you purchase insurance coverage for the duration of your holiday including airfare cancellation, baggage and medical coverage.
Passports and visas
A current passport endorsed as valid for all countries to be visited is essential. All passengers must hold a machine readable passport and applicable visas. Foreign passport holders must be in possession of a New Zealand Re-entry Permit, if applicable. Please note that passport and visa requirements are not the responsibility of the Tour Operator.
